The former captain of India was originally selected for the first two Test matches against England, but he withdrew his name for personal reasons three days before the first Test match in Hyderabad.

Since India and England are presently level 1-1 in the series, the other batsmen have had to step up and step into the big shoes over the previous three Test matches. India lacked Kohli’s middle-order experience against England in the first two matches.

Regarding Kohli’s absence, the BCCI included a remark in their team announcement for the next Tests.

For personal reasons, Virat Kohli will not be eligible for selection for the rest of the series. The decision made by Mr. Kohli is completely respected and supported by the Board,” the BCCI said in a statement on Saturday.

In the meanwhile, the BCCI said in their previous statement before to the Hyderabad Test that Kohli informed the team management, selectors, and captain Rohit Sharma of his choice.

According to a BCCI statement, “Virat has informed Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management, and the selectors that, although serving his country has always been his first priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention.”

The national selection committee includes veteran players Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul in the roster for the remaining three Test matches, although their participation would depend on the BCCI medical team’s permission.

Jadeja sustained a hamstring strain, while Rahul had a mild ailment in his right quadricep. Bengal speedster Akash Deep is the only new member of the 17-man roster. He was brought in for his continuous performance in first-class cricket and the most recent Test series between India A and England Lions.

Saurabh Kumar, the left-arm spinner, has been discharged, Jadeja has returned, and Mohammed Siraj, who was rested for the second Test, has rejoined the team.

The following players make up the India Test Squad: R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jaiswal, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.
