Japanese authorities are looking into the 30-year-old winger, who plays for the French team Reims, about the alleged incident that occurred in Osaka last year. He disputes any misconduct.

Attorney Hirotaro Kato, who is representing Juniya Ito, said that Ito “filed a suit seeking 200 million yen in compensation for damages against the two women.”

A player’s career is finite, thus it is crucial to restore his honor as quickly as possible, Kato told reporters on Monday.

According to reports in the local media, Ito’s personal trainer has also been named.

While Ito was competing in the Asian Cup in Qatar last month, a Japanese magazine published a piece on the claims made against him.

The Japan Football Association said that they intended to shield the players from “noise” and “provide an environment where they can concentrate on football” when he departed the team before to their quarterfinal matchup against Iran.

Ito returned to his club and has now made two appearances for Reims.

In addition to expressing “support for its player,” Reims has said that it “will follow with great attention the related legal progress and awaiting concrete elements which will shed light on the alleged facts.”

Ito has made 54 appearances for Japan and 13 goals.
