There has been a buzz among motorcycle aficionados since Kawasaki hinted about the Ninja 500’s coming, and now there has been another presentation. It’s interesting to note that this puts the Ninja 500’s pricing at par with that of the Ninja 400, its predecessor.

According to Autocar, reservations are already being accepted at all Kawasaki dealerships throughout the country, and delivery are scheduled to start at the end of this month.

Though there is now a Rs 40,000 discount on the Ninja 400, there are rumors that the 500 may soon replace its sister in India.

A brand-new 451cc parallel-twin engine with liquid cooling powers the Ninja 500, producing 42.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm and 45 horsepower at 9,000 rpm. The Ninja 7 hybrid motorbike and the Eliminator 500 cruiser from Kawasaki are already equipped with this engine technology.

With a weight of 171 kg, the Ninja 500 is still less than the Aprilia RS 457 but marginally heavier than the Yamaha R3 and KTM RC 390, among other competitors. Comparable bike components to the Ninja 400, the Ninja 500 has dual-channel ABS as standard, which makes it an attractive option for riders who are concerned about safety.

Kawasaki sells an optional tall seat that raises the perch to 815mm for those who want even more height.

Although the Ninja 500’s bike components are comparable to those of the Ninja 400, its new look is more in line with contemporary Kawasaki sport motorcycles like the ZX-6R and the Ninja 7 Hybrid. Notably, the model that was introduced in India is the base model; it does not have the up-spec SE amenities like keyless ignition, but it does have an all-black color scheme, a negative LCD display, and Bluetooth connection.

Although the Ninja 500 is an expensive motorcycle, it competes fiercely with the Yamaha R3, Aprilia RS 457, and KTM RC 390. How many enthusiasts choose the Ninja 500 over its more well-known competitors is yet to be seen.
