Team Neurotrauma Hyderabad Champions Road Safety Awareness Through Student-Led Live Dramas at 34th Annual Meeting

Hyderabad, Wednesday, August 12th 2026: In a major effort to combat the growing crisis of traumatic brain and spinal injuries caused by traffic violations, Team Neurotrauma Hyderabad introduced a highly successful, community-centric initiative during the Neurotrauma Meeting 2026 on 8 August 2026. The initiative was strongly backed by the leadership of the Neurotrauma Society of India, including President Dr. Sumit Sinha.

Moving beyond traditional academic lectures, the local organizing committee—led by Organizing Chairman Dr. Manas Panigrahi, Organizing Secretary Dr. Raghavendra, and Treasurer Dr. Swetha Pendyala—actively engaged the younger generation by inviting children from local schools in Hyderabad to participate directly in the scientific program.

Students from prominent institutions, including Little Flower School, Hyderabad Public School, World One School, and St. Theresa’s School, took center stage to perform a series of powerful live dramas, creatively illustrating the devastating consequences of road traffic accidents and the vital importance of neurotrauma prevention. The student performances specifically targeted five critical public safety behaviors:Breaking traffic signals: Highlighting the extreme dangers of speeding through intersections.Using mobile phones while driving: Demonstrating how split-second distractions lead to fatal outcomes.Drinking and driving: Illustrating the catastrophic impact of driving under the influence of alcohol.Use of helmets: Emphasizing life-saving protection for two-wheeler riders and pillion passengers.

Crossing roads carelessly: Educating the public on safe pedestrian habits and proper crossing techniques. This unique advocacy model successfully bridged the gap between neurosurgical clinical realities and grassroots community awareness. By empowering children to act as ambassadors for safety, the event effectively drove home the message that preventive measures are the first line of defense against neurotrauma. To honor their creativity, hard work, and impactful storytelling, the participating drama teams were recognized during an official ceremony and awarded very good prizes by senior neurosurgical faculty members.Under the guidance of its organizing leadership and the national society, Team Neurotrauma Hyderabad’s innovative approach has set a highly reproducible template for global neurosurgical societies looking to combine rigorous academic meetings with impactful, public health advocacy.
